Tonight DJ Joe White will dust off his cowboy boots & line dance playlists to bring some great line dancing music back to South Jersey line dancers.
Joe White DJ'ed and taught line & couples dances in the Philadelphia area at Prospectors for years. Playing GOOD dancing music, he had a knack for pairing new songs with classic dances. It's been about a year since his departure from Prospectors where he is greatly missed by many boot-scootin' bar-goers. "Where's the Hell Yeah button" and "Wouldn't miss it for the WORLD" are what some said on facebook event, The Return of DJ Joe White. Choreographer of the line dance, 4 Sure , Joe keeps the dance floor moving.
If you can't make it out tonight, we've heard some buzz about another DJ Joe White appearance at 38 West on July 29th.

Spring is coming next weekend! The animals will be waking up, you should come out of hibernation too. First things first, peruse 38step.com and brush up on your dance steps, of course!
Atlantic City Rodeo
Rodeo & Beer Festival coming to Atlantic City on the same weekend!
Now THAT sounds like a fun weekend! April 1 - 3, Atlantic City will be full of cowboys & beer. Suds & Studs & Spurs... ooh la la!
Rodeo tix start @ $16. You're darn right I'll be in town that weekend, actin' like a FOOL!
The first weekend in April, what kind of fool will you be?
Bally's Wild Wild West Casino - Oh how we would love to see them get some good line dancing events going! Hopefully the Atlantic City rodeo will kick up a little inspiration for their promotions department. All they need is a wooden dance floor and a decent DJ who is familiar with line dancing... someone to get the word out and viola.
Friendly Tavern reopened last summer. It's an old favorite dancin' destination for many. Some yelp-ers said,
"Great country music with plenty of dancing. Live bands are a plus. So glad to have country dancing close again. Great, diverse crowd with music for old and young alike."
"Saturday we found this new spot about an hour's drive from NE Philly. Located in Carneys Point NJ, the newly reopened under new management, Friendly Tavern sure lives up to its name is worth the trip"
"The lights are dim, Beer is cold, and the Music is Loud! Line dancing was the Deal! The crowd aged from Mid-30's to 70 years old. I'm Sure this place is going to be a Hit! "
djharry2189 has a few videos from Friendly's. The Friendly Tavern has its perks and its drawbacks but a must-try for post-rodeo rowdiness. Which leads me to...
Cowtown Rodeo - Every Saturday Night 7:30 PM
May 28, 2011 - Sept. 24, 2011
Dig out your kickers 'n wranglers, order a new white dress (so excited they're in this season), and plan some nights out! Do it up like us gals did in "Line Dancing, Concert Tix, The Rodeo Song (sans the music, poetry, art, singing, rhythm, humor and sound) ", grab a grill & some beverages (Cowtown Rodeo lets you bring in a cooler), and assign your designated driver (it's a long walk)... party it up rowdy rodeo style!
It's been a busy spring & summer. Perhaps I personified Terry Clark's song, "I Wanna Do It All", Zac Brown Band's "Toes" and Craig Morgan's "Redneck Yacht Club'". I think Keith Urban said it best... "Days Go By".
I took some road trips, went to some baseball games, and took some down time at the beach. It's been a great summer missing only one thing, large quantities of line dancing!
Getting back in the swing of things, I'm sure you've heard Prospectors has been closed through July & August for renovations. They have been working all summer to get the club back in proper dancing order come September. They're making the dance floor larger [yesss!!!] and rearranging the layout to better accommodate our needs. We look forward to getting back to some 'pros' dancing when they reopen.
In the mean time, good ol' Friendly Tavern in Carney's Point (Rt. 40) celebrated it's grand reopening on July 17. It's a great place with a slick floor to dance some Two Step & Shuffles on a Saturday night after the Cowtown Rodeo! Friendly Tavern does country music Weds. - Sat. night. They're big on Two Stepping & Shuffling and slightly less focused on line dancing than other local venues. If you haven't been there lately, it's worth venturing out!
We went out last weekend to Friendly's and I heard that Kathy Mattea tune "455 Rocket". Let me tell you how I couldn't have cared any less about what dance they were doing, I WAS gonna learn it. They were doing The Scooch choreographed by Jo Thompson. Easy to pick up, I had the dance down by the end of the song. Cool dance, awesome song.
On Friday nights, Jim & Aggie of Posse Productions hold line dances at the Milmay Vol. Fire Co. from 7:45-11:00. They do lessons on the 1st & 3rd Fridays of the month. Admission is $10, includes snacks, drinks, dance & music.
Here's the schedule Aggie sent for the rest of 2010:
