Check out -> Big band era Starlight story

Just finished reading this article by Jacob Schaad Jr. in the Wildwood Leader. Though recounting a massive fire, this story captures the essence of an era that can ignite dancing love all over again.

In another time > Hot times at the Starlight, but the fire was hotter
"... a different time when romance and dance came together at the ballroom in imitations of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and to the music of the big bands of Glenn Miller, Vaughn Monroe and the like."

I'll dance it off, thanks

Hope y'all had a fantastic Thanksgiving!

I don't know about you but after this week, I could totally use a good night of dancing off all the stress, and that festive food! Whether you feasted on Turkey or Tofurky, it's going to feel great to get in some dancing time.

Where do you plan to dance off your Thanksgiving feast this weekend?

We're headed over to Prospectors tonight... one of our fellow dancers is celebrating a birthday tonight & he's throwing a 'dress to impress' party complete with a food drive. Happy Birthday Jeremy!

Have you been back to Prospectors?

Have you been back to Prospectors in Mt. Laurel, NJ since the grand reopening with a larger dance floor? What are your thoughts? I'm curious to hear if your experience was anything like mine.

Line dance girl gets her toes out of the sand

... and back in my boots =)

Howdy,

It's been a busy spring & summer. Perhaps I personified Terry Clark's song, "I Wanna Do It All", Zac Brown Band's "Toes" and Craig Morgan's "Redneck Yacht Club'". I think Keith Urban said it best... "Days Go By".

I took some road trips, went to some baseball games, and took some down time at the beach. It's been a great summer missing only one thing, large quantities of line dancing!

Getting back in the swing of things, I'm sure you've heard Prospectors has been closed through July & August for renovations. They have been working all summer to get the club back in proper dancing order come  September. They're making the dance floor larger [yesss!!!] and rearranging the layout to better accommodate our needs. We look forward to getting back to some 'pros' dancing when they reopen.

In the mean time, good ol' Friendly Tavern in Carney's Point (Rt. 40) celebrated it's grand reopening on July 17. It's a great place with a slick floor to dance some Two Step & Shuffles on a Saturday night after the Cowtown Rodeo! Friendly Tavern does country music Weds. - Sat. night. They're big on Two Stepping & Shuffling and slightly less focused on line dancing than other local venues. If you haven't been there lately, it's worth venturing out!

We went out last weekend to Friendly's and I heard that Kathy Mattea tune "455 Rocket". Let me tell you how I couldn't have cared any less about what dance they were doing, I WAS gonna learn it. They were doing The Scooch choreographed by Jo Thompson. Easy to pick up, I had the dance down by the end of the song. Cool dance, awesome song.

Dancing on Sunday?

There's a new place to go country line dancing on Sundays in Bellmawr, NJ. The Stardust Ballroom holds a dance every second Sunday of the month with DJ Pat Gould. I hear some dancers venture out all the way from Cape May for some quality dancing.  I heard they have the largest floating hardwood floor in the tri-state area.

Stardust Ballroom
Bellmawr, NJ

Foot Candy - Line Dancing Boots

Line Dance Girl's favorite cowboy boots of 2010

Cowboy boots are trendy this spring! Here are the boot's I'd drool over, ponder and after consideration, justify splurging on ;)

Cowboy boots: quality wins over quantity!!!
Gotta have great cowgirl foot candy!! Especially since you'll be rockin' your boots for a long time.

Ideal line dancing boots have a leather sole for sliding, scootin' & shuffling... as cute as some fashion boots may be, they didn't make the list. There's nothing worst than trying to dance in rubber sole boots... well, maybe trying to dance in flip flops but that's another story.

Click for in-store boot details.

Line Dance Girl's boots:
I bought these from "Cowboy Blue" at Trail West in Nashville in 2008. The quickly replaced my favorites.
